With Esk Valley Knitwear in Annan

Esk is a brand to watch. It produces a superb collection of contemporary-styled knitwear, cleverly made on Shima Seiki seamless knitting machines. Directors Stuart Maxwell (his family founded the parent company Esk Valley Knitwear in the mid-1960s) and technical director Eric King have hired ex-Joseph designer Lorraine Acornley to create a very attractive collection for men and women.

Rare yarns like yak, alpaca, camel are used for the Esk styles, along with more familiar yarns such as cashmere, British wool, merino, silk, linen and Sea Island cotton. Unusually, the company offers a wide range of knitwear from very chunky to very fine, plus some lovely home textiles. Esk ValleyKnitwear’s main business is producing high-quality knitwear for leading British designer names, but under the Esk label the talents of its 20 employees are being given a fresh exposure.
